The shearwater birds will soon begin their 15,000 kilometres migration from the Bering Sea near Alaska and planning is well underway for Phillip Island. The Shearwater Festival is an annual event that aims to develop partnerships, cross cultural understanding and environmental awareness about the short-tailed shearwater population of Phillip Island
The 2015 Phillip Island Shearwater Festival will be held on Saturday 21 November and Sunday 22 November. Now in its fourth year, the Shearwater Festival is continuing to grow and has become an important part of the local cultural landscape.
Festival activities include a street procession, creative, cultural and environmental workshops, a participative dance ritual, music and dance performances and environmental walks and talks.
